I never know what to say about myself. Let’s see… I’m in my 40’s and work in Information Technology. I enjoy what I do and I’m fortunate in that respect. I also enjoy writing and this is my electronic whiteboard, so to speak. I can rant and vent and share my opinions.. and try to do so in a way which is clear and (hopefully) clever.
I’m a Christian. This means different things to different people. It seems that everyone looks at that word and immediately judges the one who uses it for self-identification. I’m always fascinated that the biggest complaint I hear is “Christians are so judgmental!”. Well… thanks for judging me that way. LOL
So, to clarify, here’s what I believe:
1. I believe the there is one God as defined in the Bible.
2. I believe the Bible is His infallible word.
3. I believe in the Trinity… that God is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
4. I believe that Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God.
5. I believe in sin as it is defined in the Bible and that all people have sinned.
6. I believe that Jesus Christ was fully God and fully man and lead a sinless life.
7. I believe that Jesus Christ was crucified, buried and then was raised on the third day.
8. I believe that in doing so, Christ paid the price for the sins of every person.
9. I believe that Jesus is the only way to Heaven and it is faith in Him which matters.
Here’s also what I believe:
I believe that God loves every single person. The Bible says “God so loved the WORLD”… not straight people, or black people, or Christians, or Africans, or rich people, or whatever. God loves you regardless of your race, nationality, sexual orientation, religion, net worth, occupation, gender or anything else. Even if you don’t believe in Him, He still loves you.
And, guess what? I didn’t earn my salvation and I didn’t deserve it. I still don’t. But, that’s the amazing thing. I didn’t have to earn it and I don’t have to deserve it. We’re all sinners and are all in desperate need of a Savior.
I’m a dad with two daughters and a son, all of whom I love dearly and am extremely proud. My oldest daughter is married has two very young boys… the oldest is absolutely gorgeous and probably evil. The youngest is so cute and always smiles. She is a great mom, beautiful, stubborn and I’m very proud of her.
My son is the middle child and is probably the most intelligent person I know. He’s scary smart… like super-villain-with-a-secret-lab-in-the-basement smart. Right now, he’s in college and making straight A’s. He also possesses more integrity than most men I know.
I have full custody of my youngest daughter, which is a wonderful thing that happened last fall. She’s a drama queen (sorry, Angel) and can be a handful sometimes. She’s a total nerd who likes to play World of Warcraft with me and loves her original 1977 Star Wars lunchbox. She’s always got her nose in a book and is an aspiring writer. She does it pretty well, too.
I’m married to the love of my life… she’s gorgeous, sweet, kind, funny, smart and has strong character based on her faith and the strength she’s grown through hardships. She’s also flawed and wounded… just like me. It’s amazing how we’ve been able to heal each other. She is absolutely the sweetest person I’ve ever known and she adores me, which is such a new thing for me. I’m extremely grateful.
In all, I’m a pretty blessed guy.
